Detailed instructions on how to transfer files from camera to the computer

A. The only recommended way of doing it (according to one specific Computer Systems Administrator).
1. Go out and buy a cheap USB card reader, one that can read SD/SDHC. (See G if you want to connect your camera directly to your computer.)
2. Go home and take out the memory card off your camera.
3. Insert the memory card to the card reader.
4. Plug the card reader to an empty USB slot in your computer.
5. Wait for Autoplay to come up then select "Open Folder to View Files Using Windows Explorer". (See Fig. 1. If Autoplay does not have this option, see F.)
6. Browse and Navigate the Folder.
7. Select which files you want to copy.
8. Copy.
9. Select folder in the computer's hard disk (C: or D:) where to paste copied files.
10. Paste.

2. Reboot computer (unplug camera if still plugged).
3. When computer has finished starting, plug camera.

E. How much more detail can I get?
1. It does not matter what computer you have.
2. This will also work with the Mac.
a. Just substitute Autoplay with whatever the Mac uses.
b. Windows Explorer should be substituted with Finder.
3. If you complain that these procedures do not apply to you because what you have is not a computer but a laptop then the problem is right there.
a. Nothing more I can do.
b. Research on PEBCAK.
4. The manual will not help you on this one.
a. This is simple computer skills.
b. Grab the first fifth grader that passes by your door then bribe him to help you.

F. If Autoplay does not have the "View Files using Windows Explorer" option.
1. Close Autoplay.
2. Open Windows Explorer (commonly known as My Computer or simply Computer). It has an icon near the Windows Start Icon in Win7 and on the Desktop from Win95 to XP. (See Fig. 2.)
3. Go to Computer or My Computer if you are not yet there.
4. Look for a drive marked as "Removable Storage Device" or something to the tune of that, that is not a CD/DVD drive or a floppy disk drive. (see Fig. 3.)
5. Open it then continue to A-6.

G. If you still insist on connecting your camera directly to your computer using the supplied USB cable.
1. Ignore A1-4 and instead plug your camera to the computer.
2. In case that method no longer works, go back to A1.
